Third Changchun Int'l Auto Fair Opens

The Third Changchun International Automobile Fair opened here Tuesday in the capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, drawing over 1,000 Chinese companies and automobile manufacturers from 24 countries and regions.

Nine international automobile giants including Volkswagen, Daimler Chrysler AG, Mercedes-Benz, Citroen, Toyota, Volvo and Fiat, as well as major Chinese automotive conglomerates all were in attendance at the fair.

Sedan cars, buses and medium-sized vans, trucks and auto spare parts are all on display at the fair, which has 100,000 square meters of exhibition floor space.

As this year's fair coincides with the 50th anniversary of both China's auto industry and the China First Automobile Works Group, a host of activities will take place, including a review of China's progress in the automobile industry, symposiums on topics such as the future of the industry and photo shows on automobiles, and automobiles stamps will be issued, said sources from the organizing committee.

Third Changchun Int'l Auto Fair Opens

Changchun is considered the a major base of China's auto industry. The international automobile fair is a biennial event, and was first held in 1999.

The fair will close next Tuesday.
