Pakistani Girl Undergoes Successful Open Heart Surgery in India

A two-and-half-year-old Pakistani girl, Noor Fatima, Tuesday underwent a successful open heart surgery at a private hospital in Bangalore, south India, hospital sources said.

A two-and-half-year-old Pakistani girl, Noor Fatima, Tuesday underwent a successful open heart surgery at a private hospital in Bangalore, south India, hospital sources said.

A three-member team, headed by Dr Rajesh Sharma, pediatric cardiac surgeon who knew the girl's condition since she was a six-month-old baby, successfully performed the operation, the sources told the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The sources described the condition of the girl as "satisfactory." Fatima was diagnosed as suffering from Multiple Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

Noor Fatima came to India with her parents on the first trip ofthe Lahore-Delhi bus service, which was relaunched on July 11 after a suspension of 18 months.
