Blast Rocks Workshop in Lithuania, At Least 6 Buried under Ruins

A blast rocked a workshop in central Lithuania on early Wednesday while at least six people were in the building, Lithuanian news agency ELTA reported.

A blast rocked a workshop in central Lithuania on early Wednesday while at least six people were in the building, Lithuanian news agency ELTA reported.

The blast, which occurred in a foam polystyrene production unitin a former concrete plant in Ukmerge, a central Lithuanian town, caused a fire and destroyed the building.

Firemen, who rushed to the site, have already saved four of theworkers buried under the ruins. The search for the other two or three is continuing.

According to the Fire Protection Department, fire brigades fromadjacent Sirvintos and Vilnius regions have rushed to Ukmerge to help their colleagues. Special equipment has also been taken to the site to pull down the burning wreckage.
