First-ever Chinese Policeman Rally to Start

The first-ever Chinese Policeman Rally, running from July 21 to August 5, will get go-ahead, according to the Qianwei Sports Association, the official sponsor of this event.

The first-ever Chinese Policeman Rally, running from July 21 to August 5, will get go-ahead, according to the Qianwei Sports Association, the official sponsor of this event.

During two weeks' competition, the drivers will meet lots of challenges and opportunities when they drive on twisty, narrow, and dusty roads in more then 40 cities of China, covering more than 6000 kilometers and running through 8 provinces and 3 municipalities.

Song Wannian, general secretary of the Qianwei Sports Association, said," After the SARS epidemic, this event will show deep love of Chinese people for sports."

"It will be a good test for the endurance and abilities of all the drivers and engineers. I believe this event will definitely enhance the cooperation of Chinese policemen who safeguard the lives and property of the people. " Song added.

On July 21, an opening ceremony will be held in front of the Millennium Monument, an outdoor stage in western Beijing. The Rally will get going in Beijing and meet its finish in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, the second largest island in China.
