CNPC Announces Half-year Results

China's largest oil company, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), has announced its operating results for the first half of 2003.

China's largest oil company, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), has announced its operating results for the first half of 2003.

CNPC reaped a total sales of 191.27 billion yuan and total profit of 43.87 billion yuan with respective growth rates of 31 percent and 109 percent over the same period last year.

In the past six months, CNPC produced 59.54 million tonnes of crude oil and 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas, of which itsoverseas crude production increased to 5.53 million tonnes and natural gas to 466 million cubic meters.

The company's domestic refineries processed 46.39 million tonnes of crude oil and produced 29.85 million tonnes of major oilproducts.
