Chinese FM: No Attempt to Impair Sino-Japanese Friendship Can Succeed

Any attempt to impair Sino-Japanese friendship is not welcoming and will not succeed, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Friday.

Any attempt to impair Sino-Japanese friendship is not welcoming and will not succeed, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Friday.

Kong spoke in response to a question about Japanese right-wing politician Shintaro Ishihara's impoliteness for Chinese people andhis advocating of reducing Japanese aid to China for repatriating Chinese.

"We resent and denounce Shintaro Ishihara's repeated and overt words which attacked China and hurt the Chinese people," Kong said.

"To develop good-neighborly relations conforms with the fundamental interests and common desire of the two people's of China and Japan," he said. "Any attempt to impair Sino-Japanese friendship is not welcoming and will not succeed."
