Central China Province Reports Sharp Rise in Foreign Investment

Hunan Province in central China recorded actual overseas investment of 682 million US dollars in the first half of this year, a rise of 52.7 percent over the same time last year, official figures show.

Hunan Province in central China recorded actual overseas investment of 682 million US dollars in the first half of this year, a rise of 52.7 percent over the same time last year, official figures show.

Statistics from the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Hunan provincial government show the province approved the establishment of 245 overseas-funded firms from January to June, up 44.1 percent.

The firms involved 799 million US dollars in overall contractual investment, up 55.6 percent.

Seventeen firms were classified as big projects, each involving overseas investment of 10 million US dollars or more.

Of the overseas investors, most were Asian, but investment from Europe surged by 381 percent to 63.08 million US dollars.
