Chinese Vice Premier to Address 5th ASEM Economic Ministers' Meeting

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi will address the opening ceremony of the fifth ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Economic Ministers' Meeting (EMM) Thursday here.

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi will address the opening ceremony of the fifth ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Economic Ministers' Meeting (EMM) Thursday here.

This was announced by Yi Xiaozhun, Chinese assistant minister of commerce, at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Yi said the EMM, one of the most important ministerial meetingsof the ASEM, will focus on six topics on Thursday -- global economic growth, the new round of WTO (World Trade Organization) free trade talks, trade facilitation, the promotion of investment,the development orientation of Asian and European economies and a closer partnership between the two continents.

Chinese Minister of Commerce Lu Fuyuan, chairman of the EMM, along with the four economic coordinators from the European Commission, Italy, Japan and Vietnam, will also address the Thursday meeting.
