"I feel very responsible for our country's future, and I am confident that we young Chinese will have more opportunities," said Song Haifeng, a doctoral student at the East China Science and Engineering University.

Song is just one of 1,539 delegates attending the 5-day 15th national congress of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), which opened in Beijing on Tuesday.

Founded in 1922, the CYLC is the largest youth organization in China, with about 70 million members aged 14 to 28. The League operates under the direction of the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

"Our country's goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way will bring young people great opportunities," said HuangYong, secretary of the CYLC committee of the China First Automobile Group, one of the major automobile producers in China.

Li Zhaopeng, secretary of the CYLC committee from the Qingdao Haier Group Co., said young people have played a major role in the growth of Haier, which has grown into an international electrical appliances giant.

"The restructuring and upgrading of China's agricultural sector will bring young Chinese farmers more opportunities, and we should work harder to achieve new goals," said Xu Shengjie, a young farmer from central China's Henan Province.
