Shanghai's Marine Helicopter Fulfills First Rescue Mission

The Shanghai Marine Rescue Center has successfully carried out its first rescue task at sea, saving a seriously injured fisherman.

The Shanghai Marine Rescue Center has successfully carried out its first rescue task at sea, saving a seriously injured fisherman.

On the morning of July 24, the center received an emergency call informing them that the steel wire of a fishing net had seriously cut into the leg of a young fisherman and he had lost consciousness due to excessive bleeding.

The center sent a S-76C helicopter from the Gaodong Heliport, which arrived in only 30 minutes at the scene 170 kilometers away.

The fisherman was immediately sent to hospital and is in good condition after undergoing an amputation.

Gaodong Heliport, built specially for the center's helicopters,went into trial operation on March 15 and became formally operational on July 15.

Currently, the center's helicopters can carry out rescue missions in an area of 80 nautical miles during the daytime and under good weather conditions, according to sources.
