Foreign Ministry Commissioner Ji Peiding Leaves Hong Kong Post

Ji Peiding, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and his wife left Hong Kong for Beijing Friday.

Ji Peiding, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and his wife left Hong Kong for Beijing Friday.

Since Ji was elected member of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) and vice chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 10th NPC, he will no longer take any post in the government as stipulated by the Constitution.

Upon his departure, Ji thanked the HKSAR government led by Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa, people from all circles in Hong Kong and consuls of other countries in Hong Kong for their concernand support for the Office of the Commissioner and himself.

Ji said he believes that Hong Kong people, under the leadership of the HKSAR government headed by Tung Chee Hwa and being united as one, will certainly overcome temporary difficulties and bring about a brighter future for Hong Kong.
