A cache of explosive devices discovered in a village southwest of Moscow had been successfully deactivated on Friday, local media reported.

A total of six "shakhid belts", the design and components of which are identical to those used by terrorists in the Tushino suicide bombings and another incident in central Moscow earlier this month, were found in a garage in the Chapayev Street of the Tolstopaltsevo village, Interfax said.

The power of the explosives, supposedly prepared for staging acts of terrorism in this capital city of Russia, is equivalent tosix kilograms of TNT, Itar-Tass reported.

Law enforcement sources did not rule out that the house where the explosive belts were found had been a terrorist base for organizing explosions in Moscow, according to Interfax.

Russian Federal Security of Service launched a special operation on Thursday to investigate the village after getting information from an arrested suspect of terrorist act about the explosives.

The 20-year-old Chechen suspect, named Zarema Muzhekhoyeva, failed to stage an attack with explosives hidden in her handbag near the Imbir restaurant in downtown Moscow on July 10. The Prosecutor General's Office has charged the terrorist with terrorism, premeditated murder and attempted murder.

However, explosive experts experienced difficulties in the operation while defusing the last explosive device at the scene onFriday, Interfax said.

When the robot tried to pick up the bomb and load it into a special protective container, it fell apart. Then the experts useda special water cannon along with the robot to destroy the remainder of the bomb and placed it in the container.

The village remains cordoned off at present.

Fatal suicide-bombing attacks at northwestern Moscow's Tushino airfield on July 5 during a giant open-door rock festival, allegedto be staged by Chechen rebels, killed at least 18 people including the two female suicide bombers and seriously injured many other spectators.

The Imbir restaurant incident claimed no loss of lives of localresidents but killed a sapper from the Federal Security of Serviceon the spot while he was trying to defuse the explosive.
