Central-south China Province Invests Heavily in Agricultural Projects

Central-south China's Hunan province is set to invest 4.7 billion yuan (566 million US dollars)to develop 20 key agricultural projects including kiwi and day lilies planting.

Central-south China's Hunan province is set to invest 4.7 billion yuan (566 million US dollars)to develop 20 key agricultural projects including kiwi and day lilies planting.

The projects are expected to achieve 10 billion yuan (1.2 billion US dollars) in sales, 200 million US dollars in exports, and create job opportunities for 640,000 people. Some 380,000 rural households are expected to be able to increase their incomes by taking advantage of the projects.

The yangtao project is expected to turn out 100 tons of processed products annually upon completion with annual sales forecast at 300 million yuan (36 million US dollars).

Other projects, including day lily processing, paper productionand tea products are expected to have good market potential.
