China Hopes Philippines to Maintain Political Stability, FM Spokesman

China believes the Philippine government is able to handle the military rebellion in Manila well and hopes the political situation could remain stable there, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday.

China believes the Philippine government is able to handle the military rebellion in Manila well and hopes the political situation could remain stable there, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday.

Spokesman Kong Quan made the remarks while asked to comment on China's stance on Sunday's military mutiny in the Philippine capital where a groupof military officers and men took a commercial building.

Kong said China is concerned about the event in Manila, adding that as a friendly neighbor, China hopes the Philippine government could maintain political stability so that the people could enjoy a peaceful life.
