A total of 15 broadcasting stations signed an agreement Monday to work on a joint economic broadcasting network in the Yangtze River Delta.

The 15 broadcasting stations are from major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, such as Shanghai, Zhejiang Province's Hangzhou and Ningbo and Jiangsu Province's Nanjing and Wuxi.

The stations will first launch a program on the Yangtze River Delta's social and economic development each Sunday noon from August 17.

Based on interaction and resource sharing, the cooperation will help forge China's leading economic broadcasting brand.

Further cooperation was still under discussion, said Li Ruigang, president of Shanghai Media Group, a multimedia conglomerate of radio, television, newspaper and websites with total assets of 10.7 billion yuan (1.28 billion US dollars) and over 5,200 staff.

Though mainly focusing on the economy, the trans-regional cooperation will expand to various areas like culture and entertainment, Li said.

The Yangtze River Delta, an economic zone led by Shanghai, has become China's major economic accelerator and both domestic and foreign media have been watching the flow of capital, techniques and talent in the area.
