North China's Shanxi Province exported 8.48 million tons of coal in the first half of the year, up 12.29 percent on the same period last year.
The province earned 237.83 million US dollars from coal exportsin the six-month period, 9.53 million US dollars more than the same period last year, said local sources.
In June alone, the province exported 1.8 million tons of coal, a record high in a single month.
Shanxi Province, dubbed as the "Sea of Coal", is one of China's leading production bases of quality coal.
