Shanghai Residents Allowed Easy Access to Accident Insurance

Users of the public transportation system in this eastern Chinese city will enjoy easier access to traffic accident insurance after the launch of a new insurance package on Tuesday.

Users of the public transportation system in this eastern Chinese city will enjoy easier access to traffic accident insurance after the launch of a new insurance package on Tuesday.

Local residents who hold a public transport pass, which can be used on all local public transport routes, can easily purchase traffic accident insurance.

By providing insurers with their names, identification card numbers and public transportation card numbers residents can obtain insurance valid for a year.

Applicants have three options with annual premiums valued at 10,36 and 50 yuan respectively (1.2, 4.4 and 6.1 US dollars respectively).

The new project was jointly launched by Shanghai Public Transport Card Company, the Shanghai Branch of China Pingan Life Insurance Company and Shanghai Xiangsheng Insurance Agency Company,aiming to provide convenient services to local public transport users.
