After one week suspension, South Korea visitors can access to the Mount Geumgang in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday again, according to the Hyundai Asan Corp. on Monday.

"We agreed with the DPRK side to resume the Mount Geumgang tourprogram as normal from Aug. 13," said Kim Yoon-kyu, president of the Hyundai Group's affiliate operating the inter-Korean tour project, on his return from a one-day trip to the DPRK's scenic mountain.

Kim earlier Monday attended a memorial service for late HyundaiAsan Chairman Chung Mong-hun, who committed suicide last Monday. The company leader also had discussions with Song Ho Gyong, vice chairman of the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee of the DPRK, about the cross-border tour project, reported South Korean Yonhap News Agency.

The DPRK called a temporary halt to the tours last Wednesday ina condolence message to Chung's company, saying such suspension is a mourning to Chung's death.

Both sides also agreed to diversify the tour routes by allowingtourists to visit Mount Geumgang using an overland route and return by ferry or vice versa, according to Kim, adding he will make another trip to the DPRK to discuss other pending issues in depth on Wednesday.
