Guangdong's Foreign Trade Hits Record High in July

Guangdong Province, an economic powerhouse in south China, registered a record 24.17 billion US dollars in foreign trade in July, up 21.2 percent over the same month of last year.

Guangdong Province, an economic powerhouse in south China, registered a record 24.17 billion US dollars in foreign trade in July, up 21.2 percent over the same month of last year.

According to the latest customs statistics, the province's exports and imports in July each set new records, reaching 12.8 billion and 11.36 billion US dollars respectively, or 22 percent and 20.3 percent more than that of the same month last year.

The province's total foreign trade volume surged 26.2 percent year-on-year to reach 148.75 billion US dollars in the first sevenmonths, accounting for 33 percent of the national total for the same period.

The province's exports to Africa and Europe edged up by 40.1 percent and 39.1 percent respectively to hit 930 million US dollars and 12.23 billion US dollars in the first seven months.

Export of electromechanical and high-tech products, the two leading export commodities, totaled 50.23 billion US dollars and 23.36 billion US dollars respectively, up 32.9 percent and 47.1 percent respectively year-on-year.

The province imported 38.69 billion US dollars worth of electromechanical and 23.16 billion US dollars worth of high-tech products in the first seven months, a rise of 34.7 percent and 40.8 percent respectively.
