On August 17, the "future computer" designed by Xu Bing, a second-year student of Beijing No. 5 High School, attracted the attention of many participants at the "18th National Younger Scientific and Technological Innovation Competition".

According to Xu Bing, the most distinctive characteristic of this "future computer" (named "Langchao E2") is without using display screen. The operating interface, used to be shown on a display screen, can instead be projected onto a wall or a piece of projection cloth by a projector. In this way, the computer display is replaced by a wall or a piece of cloth, and people can operate the computer on the operating interface shown on the wall.

The "future computer" made by Xu Bing comprises a mould made by a lampshade, a saucer-like computer case with some round windows made of plastic and a projector. It was only after repeated debugging that the first generation of "future computer" by Xu Bing eventually succeeded in projecting the operational interface onto a wall.

According to the computer specialists present on the occasion, if it is further improved, the "future computer" can be used as a synchronized system to integrate PC, projection machine and family film-showing into one and it augurs a bright business perspective. Now, Xu Bing has applied the patent for the invention of his own.
