China Smashes Illegal Ring Dealing with Fake Invoices, Receipts

Police have arrested more than 20 suspects engaged in fabricating invoices and receipts in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the Sichuan provincial public security department.

Police have arrested more than 20 suspects engaged in fabricating invoices and receipts in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the Sichuan provincial public security department.

On April 21 this year, police intercepted some fake invoices and receipts in a bus driving on a highway in Nanchong City. The invoices may have a maximum value of 60 million yuan (7.22 millionUS dollars) and the receipts may worth thousands of billions yuan.

Yang Dehua, the bus driver, and Lei Xiuqiong, a female passenger, admitted they illegally trafficked invoices and receipts.

A task force was immediately set up to investigate, which discovered there was a huge ring engaged in the illegal production,transportation and sales of the fake invoices and receipts.

In the following three months, the task force successfully smashed the ring by arresting some 20 members, destroying two illegal production sites and confiscating more fake invoices, receipts and stamps.

The ring began making faked invoices and receipts in 2000 in Yuechi County in Sichuan and then distributing them to other cities in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Gansu provinces.
