Hexagon Table Ready in Diaoyutai for Six-party Talks

Tables arranged in hexagon shape have been prepared for the imminent Beijing six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue to be held in the Fang Fei Yuan of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Tables arranged in hexagon shape have been prepared for the imminent Beijing six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue to be held in the Fang Fei Yuan of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

The preparations were specially designed for the six-party talks, a staff member with the guesthouse said Tuesday. Each party will be seated along one side of the hexagon covered with dark green velveteen.

All preparations are in place, including the meeting place, security, sanitation facilities and catering, said Zhuang Zhizhe, general manager of the Public Relations Department of the Administrative Bureau of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Zhuang added that a simultaneous interpretation service in five languages of Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Russian had been prepared, and each language would have five interpreters.

Miniatures of the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven featuring China's ancient civilization have been placed on the lawn in front of Fang Fei Yuan, the area where the talks will be held.

A staff member said the miniatures were specially made for the Beijing talks, and a big model of a sail boat will also be set out, to symbolize "smooth and sound" sailing for the discussion.

Located in the center of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Fang Fei Yuan is the only modern one of the nineteen villas here.

Facing a beautiful lawn in the south and a lake stocked with water lilies in the north, Fang Fei Yuan is widely noted for its beautiful location.

The talks will open in the Banquet Hall of Fang Fei Yuan, which can seat 1,000 people.
