Nepali Anti-govt Guerrillas Break down Cease-fire

The Nepali anti-government guerrillas have declared the break down of cease-fire Wednesday accusing the government of not being serious to resolve the problem through dialogue, according to a statement issued by the guerrillas' leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal, alias "Prachanda."

The statement issued through a local website said that "there is no relevancy of cease-fire when the government and the Royal Nepal Army are violating the cease-fire and code of conduct and not interested to resolve the problem through dialogue."

However, the statement added, "From our side, we will not closedown the door of talks with the government."

The Nepali government and the anti-government guerrillas declared a cease-fire on Jan. 29 this year to end the seven-year-long insurgency which has claimed over 7,500 lives in the Himalayan kingdom.

The government and the guerrillas have held three rounds of formal peace talks since April 27 this year, but all the talks ended inconclusively due to the big differences between the two sides.

The Nepali security forces clashed with the anti-government guerrillas for many times in recent days.
