Chief of PLA General Staff Meets Peruvian, Laotian Guests

Liang Guanglie, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met in Beijing Wednesday separately with Victor Bustamante, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Peru, and Bouasieng, deputy chief of the General Staff of People's Army of Laos.

Liang Guanglie, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met in Beijing Wednesday separately with Victor Bustamante, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Peru, and Bouasieng, deputy chief of the General Staff of People's Army of Laos.

Liang said the friendly and cooperative military relations between China and Peru have a solid foundation and great prospectsfor future development, adding that China has always been active in military exchanges and cooperation with Peru, during his meeting with Bustamante.

Bustamante positively evaluated the development of military relations between China and Peru.

In the meeting with Bouasieng, Liang said that China and Laos have actively implemented the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries to enhance the development of the bilateral and military relations of the two sides in recent years.

Bouasieng said the long-term and stable relations between Chinaand Laos are in the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and conducive to the peace and prosperity of Asia-Pacific region, as well as the world as a whole.

Liang also briefed the guests on China's national defense policy and its military construction.
