Dubai-based al-Arabiya satellite TV channel has quoted witnesses as saying that former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was seen in Iraq's northern city of Mosul and he "looked not fine."

Some witnesses say they saw the toppled leader several days ago in Mosul, 450 kilometers north of Baghdad, and he "looked in psychological and physical trouble."

Observers believe the major northern city is an ideal place for the ousted president and his henchmen to hide, where they can easily flee into the surrounding vast desert when necessary.

Meanwhile, one British soldier was killed and another wounded overnight in southern Iraq.
