Chinese Defense Minister Holds Talks with Guests from Republic of Congo

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan held talks in Beijing Thursday with Jacques Yvon Ndolou, minister delegate in the Presidency of the Republic of Congo in charge of National Defense.

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan held talks in Beijing Thursday with Jacques Yvon Ndolou, minister delegate in the Presidency of the Republic of Congo in charge of National Defense.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said China and the Republic of Congo had enjoyed traditional friendship.

The bilateral relations between the two countries and two armed forces have developed smoothly since the forging of diplomatic ties between the two countries 39 years ago, he said.

The Chinese armed forces valued the relationship with their Congo counterparts and were willing to enhance cooperation with them.

On military construction, he said Chinese People's Liberation Army promoted military reform in light of experience of world military reform, aiming at modernization of the Chinese armed forces.

Ndolou said he was committed to developing friendly relations with China and stepping up cooperation and development with the country in all fields.
