Top Legislator, Vice-president Meet Hungarian PM

Senior Chinese leaders and Hungary's prime minister Friday expressed their satisfaction with the current relations between the two countries, and agreed to work jointly to push it to a higher level.

Senior Chinese leaders and Hungary's prime minister Friday expressed their satisfaction with the current relations between the two countries, and agreed to work jointly to push it to a higher level.

Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong met separately with visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Medgyessy Peter.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said Sino-Hungarian relations, with a history of more than 50 years, are a good example of how two countries with different social systems, cultures and traditions, and at different levels of development can coexist peacefully and engage in reciprocal cooperation.

China is willing to make joint efforts with Hungary to push the bilateral relationship to a higher level, Wu told Medgyessy, who is here on a 4-day visit.

In a separate meeting, Zeng Qinghong told Medgyessy that China appreciates the Hungarian government's long-standing adherence to the "one-China" policy, and said that he believed that the two countries can further improve bilateral ties.

Medgyessy said Hungary regards China as an important partner, and attaches great importance to China's growing influence in international affairs.

A constantly developing China on the road to prosperity is a key factor for global stability as the world develops toward multipolarization, he said.
