Chinese Vice-president Meets Bahamanian Guest

The development of friendly relations between China and the Bahamas is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and their people, Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong said Friday.

The development of friendly relations between China and the Bahamas is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and their people, Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong said Friday.

Vice-President Zeng made the remark during a meeting with Frederick Mitchell, minister of foreign affairs and public service of the Bahamas, and his party.

China and the Bahamas have strengthened their exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and at the same time enhanced mutual understanding and friendship, he said.

The Chinese government is willing to work with the Bahamas to push forward bilateral relations, he added.

He expressed appreciation for the Bahamas government's support for the One-China policy and China's reunification cause.

Mitchell said he was impressed by China's progress, and noted that the two sides have witnessed progress in friendly bilateral relations. He said that the two sides have a consensus on numerous issues and extensive areas for cooperation.

Mitchell reiterated that the Bahamas will continue to adhere to its One-China policy.
