Chinese Shuttlers Win Three Titles in Indonesia Open

The Chinese squad gained remarkable results from the Sanyo Indonesia Open badminton championship after winning three titles of the overall five final matches they participated in at the Batam Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

The Chinese squad gained remarkable results from the Sanyo Indonesia Open badminton championship after winning three titles of the overall five final matches they participated in at the Batam Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

Xie Xingfang played out three games to beat Wang Chen of Hong Kong, China, 11-6, 8-11 and 11-1 in women's singles final, ensuring the third title for China in the 170,000 US dollars tournament.

In a previous match, unseeded Sang Yang and Zheng Bo trashed second seed Pramote Teerawiwatana and Tesana Panvisvas of Thailand16-17, 17-15 and 15-5 to secure men's doubles title, while Gao Ling and Huang Sui scooped women's doubles title following a walkover by their compatriots Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen due to injury.

Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat won title in men's singles by beating world's number one Chen Hong of China 15-9 and 15-9 and Korean mixed doubles pair Kim Dong Moon and Ra Kyung Min beat Chinese duo Zhang Jun and Gao Ling 10-15, 15-11 and 15-5. (heru)nnnn
