The overland tour project to Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s Geumgang mountain resumed Monday with 328 South Korean visitors leaving here to the DPRK resort.

The overland route to the scenic mountain resort was opened in February, but suspended in the March after the DPRK citing as reasons the bad condition of the inter-Korean eastern temporary road.

The project South Korean operator Hyundai Asan Corp. made an agreement with the DPRK to resume the overland tour in July. And the agreement was confirmed again in an inter-Korean economic meeting held in Seoul last week.

The overland tour will be offered every other day on a two-night, three-day basis, according to the South Korean company.

Hyundai's cruise trip service to Mt. Geumgang began in 1998 during a wave of inter-Korean reconciliation and exchanges, but a lack of tourists plunged the firm into financial trouble.

Hyundai Asan's Chairman Chung Mong-hun suicided early last month, casting cloudy over the project. The company hoped the resumption of the tour will economize the cost of the tour and attract more visitors.
