Chinese Government Donates Typewriters to Zambia

The Chinese government donated 80 sets of typewriters here Thursday to the Supreme Court of Zambia.

The Chinese government donated 80 sets of typewriters here Thursday to the Supreme Court of Zambia.

Chief Justice Ernest Sakala said at the handover ceremony that typewriters play a very important role in the current justice delivery system. "When records are not typed on time, justice is delayed," he said.

Sakala thanked the Chinese government for the good gesture. He said it is a demonstration of continued good relationship between the great people of China and the people of Zambia.

The chief justice said the donation marks the dawn of the happy relations between the judiciaries of China and Zambia.

"We need to strengthen these ties at the judicial level so that we are able to learn from each other in this exacting profession," he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Peng Keyu said at the same function judiciary, as one of the three arms of the political system in Zambia, plays a very important role in maintaining social stability.

He said the work of the judiciary is of essential significance to the development of the country.

Peng hoped the typewriters could make up the shortage of office facilities of the Zambian judiciary.
