Zhou Yongkang, state councilor andminister of public security, met Thursday with Jukhan Aydiner, director of Turkey's public security bureau.

Zhou said the Chinese government appreciated the new Turkish government's standpoint of insisting the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is an unseparable part of China and not allowing any people to separate China by using Turkish territory.

In February 2000, the two sides signed an agreement to cooperate in fighting transnational crimes. The two countries will adopt more concrete measures to satisfy the basic interests of the two peoples and protect the regional and world peace and stability, Zhou said.

Aydiner said Turkey valued its good relations with China and hoped to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese police in cracking down on crimes.
