A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official said Thursday that the CPC will go on strengthening its good friendly exchanges with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPG), in particularly to tighten communication between the younger statesmen of China and Germany.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark during a meeting with a German delegation headed by Sigmar Gabriel, a local leader of the SDPG.

Such exchanges and communication would promote the already good relationship between the CPC and the SDPG and between China and Germany, said Li.

On Sino-German relations, Li noted that bilateral ties have witnessed a smooth expansion since the two nations forged their diplomatic ties in 1972, acknowledging that remarkable achievements have been made in various fields of politics, economy, science and technology, education and culture.

Both China and Germany are nations capable of exerting vital influence in the world, and developing the bilateral friendly ties is not only in the basic interests of the people of the two countries, but also benefits world peace and stability, Li said. China is ready to join hands with Germany to lift the long-term cooperative ties of mutual benefit.

Hailing the remarkable economic achievements China has made, Gabriel said German-China ties have been developed smoothly and boast bright prospects despite some differences in their specific national conditions.

Stepping up the communication between the young statesmen of the two nations is beneficial to the sustained and steady expansion of German-China ties at large, Gabriel said.
