HK Manufacturers' Order Value Slips 12% in July

The value of Hong Kong manufacturers' orders-on-hand for local production decreased by 12percent in July compared with a year earlier, according to the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department.

The value of Hong Kong manufacturers' orders-on-hand for local production decreased by 12percent in July compared with a year earlier, according to the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department.

Among the industries, order value for the electronic products industry dropped the most at 26 percent, followed by that for the fabricated metal products industry, which went down 14 percent.

The order value for the textiles industry fell 12 percent, while that for the plastic products industry decreased 7 percent, and that for the wearing apparel industry dropped 2 percent.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of manufacturers' orders-on-hand for local production for the three months ended in July remained virtually unchanged from the three months ended in April.
