German President to Visit Hong Kong

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Johannes Rau will pay an official visit to Hong Kong from Sept. 15 to 17 , Hong Kong government press office said Friday.

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Johannes Rau will pay an official visit to Hong Kong from Sept. 15 to 17 , Hong Kong government press office said Friday.

Johannes Rau's visit will follow his state visit to the Chinese mainland. Accompanied by his wife and son, the president will arrive from Guilin.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa will meet with the president on Sept. 16, followed by a luncheon at the Government House. At the luncheon, the president and his entourage will be meeting local community leaders, said the press office.

During his stay in Hong Kong, Johannes Rau will also meet with the president and members of the Legislative Council, members of the Hong Kong Judiciary at the Court of Final Appeal, and local business representatives at a reception organized by the German Chamber of Commerce. He will depart for Berlin on the morning of Sept. 17.
