Chinese Chen Advances to Malaysian Open Final

Top seed Chen Hong of China survived a tough game in front of an unsupportive crowd, beating local fovarite Wong Choong Hann to enter the final of the Malaysian Open badminton tournament in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.

Top seed Chen Hong of China survived a tough game in front of an unsupportive crowd, beating local fovarite Wong Choong Hann to enter the final of the Malaysian Open badminton tournament in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.

Winning over Wong 15-13 and 15-7, the Chinese will take on another Malaysian unseeded Lee Chong Wei for the men's singles crown on Sunday who eliminated South Korean Lee Hyun Il in the other semifinal.

Chinese Zhou Mi will vie for the women's title against arch rival Camilla Martin of Denmark after both players easily disposedoff their more noted opponents in the semi-finals.

Zhou stopped compatriot Xie Xingfang 11-2, 11-3 while Camilla outpowered another Chinese second seed Gong Ruina 11-4, 11-4.

The mixed doubles title will be decided between South Korean Kim Dong Moon/Ra Kyung Min and England duo of Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms of England.

The Korean pair defeated China's Zhang Jun/Gao Ling 15-5, 11-15,15-10 while the English pair disposed of Jonas Rasmussen/Rikke Olsen of Denmark 15-6, 15-10 in the semifinals.
