The railway from Xi'an to Ankang in northwest China's Shaanxi Province resumed operation Saturday morning after transportation being halted for 54 hours by landslides.

Downpours hit Shaanxi Province from Aug. 28 to Sept. 6, causing serious floods and landslides in many areas of the Province.

A severe landslide took place in a mountainous section above the railway linking Xi'an and Ankang and halted the railway from early Thursday morning.

Over 600 railway workers had been working around the clock to resume the railway transportation.

The section between the two cities runs 267.49 km.
