Luo Gan, a senior Chinese Communist Party official, visited the headquarters of Nokia Corporation in Helsinki on Thursday after meeting Finnish Parliament and government leaders Wednesday.

China's Senior Party Official Continues Visit to Finland
Luo Gan, a senior Chinese Communist Party official, visited the headquarters of Nokia Corporation in Helsinki on Thursday after meeting Finnish Parliament and government leaders Wednesday.

Mikko Heikkonen, Nokia's executive vice president, briefed Luo and his entourage about Nokia's history and business in China as well as the latest technology that the corporation is developing.

Nokia, the world's largest exporter in mobile telecommunications industry, has manufacturing bases in Beijing, Dongguan and Suzhou in China. China is Nokia's second largest market in the world.

On Wednesday, Luo met separately with Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and Parliament Speaker Paavo Lipponen, who is also chairman of the Finnish Social Democratic Party.

Luo arrived in Helsinki on Tuesday evening to pay a three-day good will visit to the country from Reykjavik after visiting Iceland. Finland is the second leg of his four-nation tour, whichwill also bring him to Armenia and Moldova.

China and Finland established diplomatic relations in 1950. The two countries have maintained a sound relationship, especiallyin trade and economy in recent years. The trade volume between January and September 2002 reached 1.96 billion US dollars.
