Chinese Premier
Wen Jiabao
said here Friday that China is willing to further improve China-
Germany
friendly cooperative relations.
Wen made the remarks when meeting with visiting German President Johannes Rau.
He said the bilateral political ties are developing smoothly currently and mutual trust has also deepened.
The friendship between China and Germany is based on mutual understanding and support, Wen said. China offered firm support to Germany's unification in the past and Germany has always abided by the "one-China" policy, he said.
Germany has been China's largest trade partner in Europe for about 30 consecutive years and China also became Germany's largest trade partner in Asia in 2002, Wen said.
He said China's entry into the
World Trade Organization
and the countrys endeavor to build a well-off society have produced many opportunities for foreign enterprises in China.
"China is willing, together with Germany, to make full use of all the cooperative mechanisms between the two sides and continue to probe cooperative potential to expand bilateral economic and trade exchanges as well as cooperation in other fields," he said.
Johannes Rau said he fully agreed with Wen's remarks on Sino-German relations. He said Germany-China cooperation has been progressing smoothly in recent years, covering all fields including diplomacy, economy, science and technology.
"Some of my delegation members are representatives from Germany's small and medium sized enterprises," he said. "I hope the exchanges and cooperation between them and Chinese entrepreneurs could further upgrade Germany-China economic and trade relations," he said.
