State Councilor
Tang Jiaxuan
met here Friday with a senior African diplomatic delegation.
Tang said the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Africa had passed the test of time and international events, and had been consolidated and developed.
The first ministerial meeting of the Sino-African Cooperation Forum in
Beijing
in 2000 launched an important system for friendly negotiation and mutual cooperation between China and African nations.
The second ministerial meeting will be held in Ethiopia in December. China believed the meeting would demonstrate the vitality of Sino-African cooperation, he said.
Tang said the birth of the African Union and the implementation of the New Partnership for African Development signified a new step for most African nations on the road to development. The Chinese government and people were willing to expand cooperation with African nations.
Tang also briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and its modernization.
