Jia Qinglin Meets Former British Vice Prime Minister

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met here Saturday with Geoffery Howe, former British vice prime minister.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met here Saturday with Geoffery Howe, former British vice prime minister.

Jia expressed his gratitude for Howe's contribution to Sino-British relations, saying that the two countries are keeping a good momentum in developing friendly relationship.

As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, Jia said, both China and Britain are playing important roles in world and regional affairs, as well as shouldering key responsibility.

Further enhancement of the bilateral relations would benefit world peace, stability and development, Jia said.

He said his committee will spare no efforts to promote Sino-British exchange and cooperation.

Howe said that Britain has always attached great importance to strengthening the bilateral relations with China. He said that thecurrent good momentum of the friendly relationship should be maintained.
