The 2003 China International Finance Forum, from Oct. 28 to 30, will focus on financial prospects and policies in China and development of China's capital market, the organizers announced here Monday.

The forum, focusing on China's participation in global finance after its entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), will be sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council (China's central government), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Chinese Reform and Development Forum Commission. Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Cheng Siwei will chair the forum.

The forum would be divided into speeches, sub-forums and round table meetings, with invited government officials, entrepreneurs and experts to hold discussions on issues like the globalized economy and China's capital market, and financing of medium and small enterprises.

A source with the organizers said China, after WTO entry, should have a clearer view of the interests and risks of globalized finance, and carry out economic reform more carefully for sustainable development.
