Chinese communication services earn over 290b yuan in first seven months

China's communication sector earned 292.81 billion yuan (about 35.3 billion US dollars) in the first seven months of 2003, up 14.3 percent year-on-year, according to official figures.

China's communication sector earned 292.81 billion yuan (about 35.3 billion US dollars) in the first seven months of 2003, up 14.3 percent year-on-year, according to official figures.

The income from telecommunication service totaled 262.2 billion yuan, growing 15.2 percent, and from postal service reached 30.62 billion yuan, climbing 7.6 percent.

Officials with the Ministry of Information Industry disclosed that the income grew slower than the total communication service amount during this period, which meant the average expense for such services was on decline.
