Chinese Vice-Premier meets Alcatel executives

Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju met Thursday in Beijing with Serge Tchuruk, chairman and chief executive officer of Alcatel.

Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju met Thursday in Beijing with Serge Tchuruk, chairman and chief executive officer of Alcatel.

Huang said the rapidly expanding Chinese economy and China's huge market provided opportunities and a vast stage for cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises.

China welcomes such big-name companies as Alcatel to invest in China for the advancement of information-based industrialization, he said.

Tchuruk said Alcatel considered China a key production base and an important part of its global businesses. The company plans to increase investment and research and development efforts in the country, he said.

Tchuruk was here as guest of China's Ministry of Information Industry.
