Int'l stars invited for HK Harbor Festival

International singers Prince, Craig David and Jose Carreras are set to perform at Hong Kong Harbor Festival scheduled for Oct. 17 to Nov. 9, said sources of the Hong Kong-based American Chamber of Commerce Friday.

International singers Prince, Craig David and Jose Carreras are set to perform at Hong Kong Harbor Festival scheduled for Oct. 17 to Nov. 9, said sources of the Hong Kong-based American Chamber of Commerce Friday.

The performances, to be staged at Tamar site over four weekendsat Victoria Port, are part of efforts by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government's promotion of Hong Kong and rebuilding its image as "Asia's World City."

The festival was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and funded by the HKSAR government.

It features a dazzling series of superb live shows catering to all tastes and ages, including rock n'roll, family entertainment, classical and theatrical performances.

The selling of the 200,000 tickets began as of Friday.

Prince from the US, globally known for his hit movie and album "Purple Rain", is confirmed for the festival's opening act on Oct.17 He was recently nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Craig David's debut album "Born to do it" sold over 7 million copies worldwide. He won a Grammy in 2001 for "Best Male Pop VocalPerformance."

Jose Carreras, one of the renowned three Tenors, will perform outdoors at Tamar. His powerful emotionally charged songs will be supported by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Family Fest will feature some of the most popular children's acts from around the world -- Wiggles from Australia, Disney's JAAM featuring Mickey Mouse and Friends, Hong Kong's own Scotty & Lulu, Warmer Brother's Looney Tunes and Snoopy character show.
