China has so far secured nine golds since the regional meet kicked off on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial track oval, with the participation of some 1,500 athletes from 43 of the 45 members of the Asian Athletics Association.

Kan Fulin, head coach of the Chinese delegation, told reporters on Sunday that they are aiming for 11 to 13 golds. "But we will be happy if we duplicate our 10 gold medals in last year's championships," he added.

Sunday's competitions offered 16 gold medals. A total of 43 golds are to be contested in the four-day regional trackfest.
