PRINT DISCUSSION CHINESE SEND TO FRIEND

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), met with visiting Cameroon President Paul Biya Tuesday.

Wu said that since the forging of their diplomatic relations, the bilateral friendly and cooperative relations between China andCameroon have been developed smoothly and China always views Cameroon as a true friend.

He said the two countries have collaborated effectively in political, trade and economic and other fields, as well as supported each other on international affairs.

China and Cameroon, both developing countries, have similar experiences and, therefore, share similar interests against the backdrop of a complicated world situation, Wu said.

He noted that both countries are focusing on economic advancement and the two governments encourage enterprises to forgecloser ties.

Wu also said the high-profile exchange of visits between the two legislatures helped promote mutual understanding and friendship.

The NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with its counterpart in Cameroon so as to contribute more to the all-round development of Sino-Cameroon relations, the NPC chairman said.

President Biya said he could hardly agree more with Wu's remarks that various countries are entitled to develop themselves in accordance with their respective national conditions. China's rapid economic growth showed that China has chosen a way of development most suitable to itself, he added.

Noting that Cameroon attached close importance to its relations with China, Biya also said he hoped to increase comprehensive exchanges and cooperation with China.
