Chinese sets Asian record in 400m hurdles

China's Huang Xiaoxiao triumphed in the women's 400m hurdles with a new Asian record in the last day competitions of the 15th Asian Athletics Championships Tuesday in Manila.

China's Huang Xiaoxiao triumphed in the women's 400m hurdles with a new Asian record in the last day competitions of the 15th Asian Athletics Championships Tuesday in Manila.

Huang clocked 55.66 seconds to win the gold, the second for China on Tuesday, surpassing the old record of 55.8 created by China's Li Rui in 1998 in Fukuoka, Japan.

China's Ha Mingming won the women's 20km walk gold in one hour 31 minutes and 47 seconds, also surpassing the Asian record of 1:36:57 created by China's Gao Kelian last year in Colombia, Sri Lanka.

Kazakhstan's Natalya Torshina won the women's 400m hurdles silver in 55.88 seconds, followed by Thailand's Winatho Wassana in56.40.

In the men's 400m hurdles, Qatar's Mobarak Sultan Al-Nobi beat Kazakhstan's Yevgeniy Meleshenko 49.19-49.55 seconds to win the gold. Chinese Taipei's Chen Tienwen got the bronze in 50.72.

In the women's 200m run, Uzbekistan's Lyubov Perepelova, who Sunday won the 100m gold in 11.43, took her second crown of the four-day regional meet in 23.11 seconds.

Chinese Chen Lisha got the silver in 23.39 while Uzbekistan's Guzel Khubbieva, who took the 100m bronze on Sunday, won the bronze in 23.63.

Meanwhile, Fawzi Al Shammari from Kuwait, who won the men's 400m gold on Sunday, claimed the 200m title on Tuesday, with a time of 20.70 seconds.

Saudi Arabia's Hamed Al-Bishi finished second in 20.73 and China's Yang Yaozu third in 20.82.
