Chinese women renew Asian record in 4X400m relay

China won the women's 4X400m relaygold medal in the last day's competitions of the 15th Asian Athletics Championships Tuesday in Manila with a new Asian record.

China won the women's 4X400m relaygold medal in the last day's competitions of the 15th Asian Athletics Championships Tuesday in Manila with a new Asian record.

The Chinese team, composed of Chen Lisha, Zhang Xiaoyuan, HuangXiaoxiao and Bu Fanfang, won with time of 3 minutes and 31.30 seconds, renewing the old Asian record of 3:31.54 set in 2000 in Jakarta.

Kazakhstan won the silver in 3:32.82 while India took the bronze in 3:35.35.

In the men's 4X400m relay, Sri Lanka defeated Japan to win the gold. Qatar got the bronze.

In the men's 5,000m, Qatar's Abdulrahman Amri Abdelaziz crossedthe finish line with a time of 13 minutes and 58.89 seconds, winning the country's sixth gold in the regional meet.

Saif Safed Shaheen, also from Qatar, won the 5,000m silver medal in 13:58.92 while Japan's Nobuyo Matsunaga came third in 14:12.73.
