China's top legislator meets Russian PM

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress met Wednesday with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress met Wednesday with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.

Wu said the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation has deepened in recent years, bilateral political trust has improved, and economic and trade relations promoted.

He said China and Russia share many common views and have closeconsultation and coordination in international affairs.

China and Russia are two influential countries and Sino-Russianrelations are very important, which should be dealt with not only from a bilateral perspective, but also from a strategic level, he said.

The signing of the China-Russia treaty on good-neighborly friendship and cooperation secured in law the long-term, healthy and steady development of bilateral ties, Wu said, adding that China is glad to see the bilateral cooperative mechanism is improving and proceeding smoothly.

He said the mechanisms of friendly exchanges and cooperation between China's NPC and Russia's Federal Assembly have been set up. China's NPC attaches great importance to the exchanges with Russia's states and regions along the border areas and welcomes parliament members in these areas to visit China.

Kasyanov said Russia and China have cooperative mechanism in all aspects, and leaders as well as entrepreneurs of the two sideshave good relations.

The communication between the two parliaments has also played an important role in bilateral relations and helped push forward the bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation, said the primeminister.
